Here are a few examples:

• Walk out of the ceremony to some music that the guests won’t be expecting such as the theme from your favourite movie. This will help to lighten the mood after the formality of the wedding ceremony.

• Have some entertainment during the drinks reception such as a caricaturist, magician or silhouette artist.
It’s something out of the ordinary that guests won’t be expecting and will keep them entertained during the drinks reception.

• Keep the first dance a secret and enrol in a few
dance classes prior to the day. Have a simple routine choreographed for you and don’t tell your guests. Alternatively, you could hire a dance instructor to come along to the evening reception and give your guests
a dance class and teach them some swing or salsa steps.

• If guests are staying over at the wedding venue,
do something special for them for breakfast the next morning. Arrange bucks fizz or have goodie bags of fruit and leftover cakes for them for their journey home.
